Care Information

Pruning
Snip off faded flowers to keep the plant looking tidy and to help it keep blooming. After the main summer show, a midseason shear freshens the foliage and often brings another round of flowers later.
Soil
Clay, Loam, Sand, Gravely soil
Soil pH
Acid, Alkaline, Neutral
Pests
Slugs and snails may chew young growth, especially where soil stays damp. Aphids and other small sucking insects can appear at times, but strong plants usually bounce back with minimal trouble.
Diseases
Leaf spot or powdery mildew can show up in muggy weather or when plants are crowded, so good spacing helps. Root rots are most likely in poorly drained soil, so well-drained ground and careful watering are important.
Propagation
Make new plants by lifting and dividing the clump in spring as fresh growth starts. Basal cuttings taken in spring can also root well in a lightly moist potting mix.
